Who knew?
Princeton, Drexel University, and California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have come together to collaborate to create the first professional scientific association that is completely virtual. Called the Meta Institute for Computational Astrophysics (MICA), they offer classes, seminars and professional development in Second Life.

Virtual Iraq Used to Help Vets with PTSD

A popular video game called “Full Spectrum Warrior” has been modified to help Veterans of the Iraqi war come to terms with their Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Exposure to the game helps them to come to terms with and cope with their memories from the War.
SUNY Upstate Medical University modified the game for use with the Vets.

MMO
An MMO is a Massively Multiplayer Online game, which is why it’s also known as an MMOG. They can be distinct from MOG – Multiplayer Online Game – in the amount of resources that are dedicated to allowing people to play. Usually in MMO’s they have dedicated servers to ensure that the resources are available for the optimum game environment.
